this eyeliner is modern makeup's tribute to Asia's traditional art of calligraphy. it has been upgraded with an enhanced formula that dries quickly on the skin and maintains a just-applied intense color, delivering longer-lasting eyeliner makeup for up to 18 hours. fine to bold expressions can be created by drawing with light or heavy pressure or low or high speed movements.
inspired by calligraphy brushes, the specially designed brush has 4 essential characteristics:
- a pointed tip,
- a balance of different bristle materials,
- exquisite form,
- an elasticity of the brush to provide elegant and lively expressions, ranging from delicate to bold.
waterproof and sweatproof, the long-lasting ink offers intense color that does not reveal the skin color underneath the line. the upgraded formula features a flexible acryl polymer paired with a new pigment dispersion process. this breakthrough in technology results in faster liquid-to-film conversion and greater film flexibility for longer wear in this area where skin movement is high. the ink-like carbon black pigment particles are small and provide an even surface that reflects light for a shiny finish.

Brush tip eyeliners are the best and shu has the best. Reminder you must buy the ink separately which this last lady on here didn't read before buying. It's worth the price because once that ink is on it actually stays. My skin in naturally oily and I always smudge my eyeliner from just blinking except with this eyeliner. Forget Stila forget Kat von d forget any other eyeliner - I literally have not found anything else that's better.
I've been using shu uemura's liquid eyeliner pens for 10+ YEARS. each pen lasts me 2-3 years and I only need to replace the cartridge maybe once a year. when my most recent pen finally broke down (note: I bought it at the end of 2019) because the brush tip no longer reached a point - I made a trip into Sephora to find a quick replacement. I figured there'd be decent dupes by now. yeah no. NOT A SINGLE LIQUID EYELINER APPLICATOR CAME CLOSE. Also what's up with all the foam applicators? I tried literally all the brands, bought the best one I could find (Make Up Forever) - but it was still totally disappointing. If you, like me, need crisp, delicate, sharp lines, an easy to remove and clean up liner (water will suffice) - this pen, which actually still has bristles, is the only thing that will do the job. Yeah I think I will be using these pens until I die.
I’ve tried many a waterproof liquid liner (KVD, MAC, etc) but none have been long lasting. I have hooded eyelids so I had an uphill battle. I pretty much gave up on finding the elusive formula that has good coverage and lasts all day…until now. This pen and cartridge glides beautifully to create a perfect winged line that doesn’t smudge or disappear. I am blown away. I ordered both brown and black and plan to stock up. Thank you!!!
This is my first time purchase shu uemura eyeliner, very impressive, very good eyeliner, easy to draw the line smooth, stay whole day and good quality. I will buy again .
I like the brush it make it easy to apply like writing with pen
This my go to eyeliner. I have been using this eyeliner for years. It does sometimes gets smudges before it has dries if one blinks. However it is easy to wipe off with water or makeup oil and once it dries completely it sets. This is waterproof and doesn’t smudge.
I liked this eyeliner pen. the color cartridge must be purchased separately. I like the design of the pen, I like that the cartridge is seperate. I did not like the brush. I found it hard to draw an even line. That may have been a "me" situation. So I use it to draw beneath my lash line instead and I use a different liner to draw on my lash line for a cleaner line.
I did not realize this is NOT a liner with ink!! I hope I can return it. Just opened it today and realized my mistake. Lame!!
I thought it comes with its ink (cartridges) then have to refill it but it comes along without ink .so you have to buy the pen and cartridges So Until now I have not try it yet but I'm excited
