The Uemura Garden
Limited Edition Cleansing Oils
Following the overwhelming success of the first series of shu by Ai Limited Edition Cleansing Oils, shu uemura has commissioned artist Ai Yamaguchi once again to create a brand new series of exclusive artwork to adorn the bottles of shu uemura's most emblematic product.
Inspired by the legendary Uemura Garden, Ai Yamaguchi's artwork illustrates the significant meaning that flowers and plants hold in the Japanese culture. Using the Japanese concept of "Hana Kotaba" or "Flower Language," Ai Yamaguchi is able to illustrate a symbolic story with each flower or plant that adorns this series of Limited Edition Cleansing Oils.
Subtly sketched into the artwork of nature that adorns each Cleansing Oil is Ai Yamaguchi's famous illustration of the young Japanese girl. Her presence on each bottle is discrete as if she has become a part of the nature that surrounds her. It is in this setting, among the flowers and plants that surround her, that her own story is told.

The Uemura Garden
"The Uemura Garden" was created by Mr. Uemura's father in the 1930s and was painstakingly planned, plant-by-plant, for year-round visual and tactile adornment. Throughout his life, Mr. Shu Uemura witnessed the growth of this garden, which nurtured his vivid imagination and became an inspiration and source of peace throughout his career.
The Uemura Garden is a historical collection of images from the inspiration and the planting of the garden to the vast landscape it became as it thrived and evolved throughout the different seasons of the year.
Inspired by this legendary Uemura Garden, Ai Yamaguchi translated this inspiration into the beautiful artwork that adorns her second series of
Limited Edition Cleansing Oils.
