I loved the Basic mascara. My lashes tend to straighten out even after curled with any other mascara, but when I found Basic, I was thrilled. It made my lashes look great! This one is no where near as nice--and I've used it a lot, trying to give it a chance. BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA! PLEASE!

I was a die-hard fan of mascara basic & so disappointed when it went away, but I've been very happy with ultimate natural mascara as a replacement. It gives me length & holds the curl, not much volume but I wasn't looking for that. It also lasts through sweaty workouts & hot yoga and doesn't flake or move until I take it off. I find it very flattering and easy to live in. Hope it doesn't disappear too!

Basic was perfect; why overthrow it for a formula that is no different from the dozens of other mediocre mascaras on the market? Ultimate Natural is neither "ultimate" or "natural". It's clumpy, smudgy, and makes lashes spiky and stiff.

I have used the basic formula for approximately 15 years and absolutely loved it. I have given it as gifts and the recipients loved it as well. This new formula is not the same as the basic formula. You tried to fix a product that was perfect and failed.

Shu's basic Mascara was my favorite mascara on earth. It was so natural in bright sunlight people couldn't tell I was wearing any mascara. And it had a waxyness to it that tamed my unruly eyelashes yet kept them perfectly clump free and kept my lashes soft and bendable. You could build coat after coat with out fear of clumps. Well this new formula (which is supposed to replace the old basic) is nothing like the old formula. It is ridiculously clumpy. The texture is lumpy and it makes my eyelashes hard and crispy. It does not look natural at all. I am so disappointed. Please bring the old formula back!!!

I did not have any of the issues that JEKD experienced. It was easy and smooth the apply; and I often go without applying mascara. I did not have to wiggle the wand to prevent clumps and sticking. For me it goes on smooth with a swip or two. And I have received a lot of compliments on how natural my lashes look when I do appy it. This is basically my go-to mascara compared to all the other top-of-the-line mascara that I have or had own.
The only reason I rated this with 4 stars was because there's a bit of smudging on the corner of the lower lash line after 5 hours of wear.

I disagree with the other woman who posted. I love this mascara and it's the only one I will use. Have tried others, including Chanel, Dior, etc., and Shu is the only that provides the volume and length without clumping or looking overdone.
